How does a projection clock function?A light source is reflected on the clockface of the clockwork. By means of an ingenious system the reflection is projected by means of again other mirrors on a, preferably flat, smooth surface, i.e. a wall, ceiling or floor. However these surfaces could also be a school board a cupboard door, tables, etc. The only condition is that the surface is as flat as possible. As such the best possible projection will be achieved. As the clock functions with mirrors and reflection of light, the distance of the clock to the projection surface is the determining factor for the diameter of the projection itself. In other words, in a living room where the distance between the clock and the wall is approximately 3 meters, the diameter of the projection will be approximately 60 cm. If the clock is used to project in a large business hall or area at a distance of 20 meters, the projected clock may have a diameter of 3 meters. Most important however is the focus. The focus of the Qtime projection clock is perfect under all circumstances and in all situations. What are the dimensions of the clock? The dimensions of the Qtime are: height 30 cm, width 10 cm, depth 8.How about projection diameter and distances? At a projection distance of approximately 2.5 to 3.0 meters, the diameter of the projected clock is approximately 75 cm to 100 cm. In a larger area the projection diameter is 3 meters if the distance from the wall to the clock is approximately 20 meters. Rule of the thumb here is: the larger the distance between projection and the Qtime projection clock, the larger the projected diameter of the clock will be. Note that the projection needs to be adjusted by means of the focus wheel at the backside of the clock. How do I exchange a battery?![]()
Turn the clock around as such that the lower section of the clock faces up. Use a 10 cents coin to loosen the lid from the clockwork at the lower section of the clock by turning it a quarter of a turn. You will observe that the lid will loosen slightly from the housing of the clockwork. Use a small sharp object to lift the lid from the housing. Exchange the battery by using this same small sharp object to loosen the battery from the clamp, by lifting it. Subsequently the new battery can be positioned on the exact same location. Reposition the lid on the clockwork housing. …. Note that small openings are provided to ensure the perfect and seamless fitting of the lid into the housing, which can be achieved from two directions. Finally the 10 cents coin may once again be used to turn the lid a quarter of a turn and the procedure is completed.
return to top of page What is the life cycle of a battery?Depending on the time the projection clock is in use, the battery will last between 6 to 18 months. The heat of the lamp is the reason why the battery is depleted sooner than under normal circumstances. For this reason we included an additional battery with the delivery of each Qtime projection clock. Additional batteries may be ordered at Qtime BV. (visit the online shop). How do I adjust the time?![]()
Turn the clock as such that the lower section of the clock faces up. You will see a wheel fixed to the clockwork. Use your finger or nail to free the wheel several millimetres from the housing to be able to reset the hands of the clock. When you have completed the setting, please push the wheel into its previous position and the sweep-second will function once again.
The clock becomes rather warm? This is normal: first one should view the Qtime projection clock as a lighting element, a lamp which, in this case, allows you to read the time as well. Each light source is simultaneously a heat source. After all, you will treat a burning lamp with respect as well!!! Leave the lamp to cool down for a couple of minutes prior to moving the lamp. Should you want to hold or move the lamp while it is burning, please hold the lamp at the lower section, at the synthetic part. This is where it will be less warm. ATTENTION : YOUR RE WORKING WITH A HEAT SOURCE, WHERE TEMPERATURES COULD INCREASE TO AS HIGH AS 70 degrees Celsius. THEREFORE ONE SHOULD ALWAYS PROCEED WITH THE UTMOST CARE.!! return to top of page How do I keep the projection mirror cleanWhen the lamp is burning in more humid surroundings, it could occur that the projection mirror on top of the projection clock will have a little "moisture". Turn the mirror facing you and clean the mirror with a moist cloth. Next use a dry soft cloth to clean the mirror for the last time after which the mirror is ready for use. This can be repeated as often as required, neither the mirror nor the clock will be affected by it.What energy sources does the clock use?Two energy sources are applicable:The clockwork functions on a cell battery. If the clockwork stops the battery needs to be exchanged. Please refer to the description thereof above. The light source functions at 220volt. This is converted by the adapter to an acceptable voltage for the halogen lamp. How to proceed when exchanging the halogen lamp is described below. How to exchange a halogen lamp?Soon available an instruction by means of photographsATTENTION: the halogen lamps used by Qtime have been specifically produced for this projection clock. We strongly advise to use original Qtime halogen lamps. Can I order lamps at Qtime? It is possible to order lamps at Qtime BV, please visit the online shopHow do I focus the Qtime projection clock?Near the centre of the rear side of the clock you will find a setting screw. By repeatedly tuning it (to the right or to the left) the projection can be focussed in each possible distance. Is it possible to hang the lamp upside down? No, this is not possible.return to top of page Can I order batteries?Batteries can be purchased at each jeweller's shop (for replacement, please refer to the above paragraph). However, you may also order the batteries at Qtime for the price of € 3.75 including postage. , please visit the online shopI have an oval-shaped projection?Note that the clock needs to be in horizontal position in front of the wall or the to be projected surface. A slight angle of projection may produce a distorted projection (often oval shaped)! My clock has a shaded rim!Has the clock been focussed?Note that the clock needs to be in horizontal position; projection at a slight angle may produce a shaded rim or deformations. How do I exchange a colour filter?LEAVE THE CLOCK TO COOL DOWN FOR APPROXIMATELY TEN MINUTES!!!The various colour filters, positioned in a holder in the lower section of the housing of the transformer can be removed and replaced by means of an ingenious push and slide system. Select a colour and place this on the opening on top of the clock where in normal circumstance the transparent colour is projected through. The filter fits seamlessly. To exchange the filter. Leave the clock to cool down for approximately 10 minutes. Place the short side of the hexagonal wrench (positioned in the lower section of the housing of the transformer) in the opening in the centre of the filter. Next, pull the filter out. Push and slide the filter back into the holder at the bottom side of the transformer and replace the filter with a new filter. return to top of page |
